The CPC30220 Certificate III in Carpentry is a trade level qualification and provides students with necessary skills and knowledge to work on a building site in the area of construction carpentry.
Students will learn how to efficiently produce quality work in the building and construction, renovation and maintenance sectors of the industry. Major areas of study include interpretation of plans, measurements and calculations, use of power tools and equipment, installing flooring and constructing timber external stairs etc.
The course is primarily aimed at the residential sector of the industry where students will be able to construct domestic framework, formwork, scaffolding and footings. You will also gain the knowledge to be able to interpret plans and apply work health and safety to ensure you meet industry safety standard requirements at all times.
There are no specific entry requirements as per the qualification details or training package. International students entering this course at Everthought must meet the following entry requirements:
Age requirements
Students must be a minimum age of 18 years or above at the time of course commencement.
Academic Requirements
Satisfactorily complete a minimum of Year 11 or equivalent (subject to the assessment and approval of the Everthought College of Construction’s admission team
English Language Requirements
Applicants must provide evidence of completion of the International English Language Testing system (IELTS Test), either Academic (A) or General (G) band 6 overall, or its equivalent completed within 2 years from the application date.

Pre-training review
All learners will undertake a pre-training review to determine suitability for the course and student needs. The aim of the review is to identify their training needs through questions on previous education or training, relevance of the course to the applicant, and relevant experience. The Pre-training review will also aim to identify any support needs and possible RPL opportunities.
Through the pre-training review, learners will demonstrate that they have the necessary skills to successfully complete the course.
Everthought will identify any such barriers presented by learners during the pre-training review and provide required support and reasonable adjustment where possible.
Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Assessment
All learners will be required to complete an LLN assessment prior to the commencement of the course. – it is a diagnostic process to identify if a prospective student requires LLN support during study.
Hardware/Software requirements
Everthought College will provide access to computers/laptops during classroom hours, however for learners to work on assessments, tasks and self-study all learners are expected to have access to a laptop or computer with windows operating system and office application like Microsoft word at their own cost.
Note: Some assessment tasks are completed using a computer and internet, and it is essential for the student to possess basic computer skills.
Physical requirements
Applicants will need to have physical attributes suitable for working in the construction industry that encompasses manual handling of equipment including lifting and carrying heavy objects within scope of safe working practices.

After successfully CPC30220 Certificate III in Carpentry, students may continue to study with a Certificate IV, a Diploma or an Advanced Diploma so broader your opportunities.

This program is delivered in Everthought College’s purpose designed facilities where emphasis is placed on providing hands-on, practical training. Training is delivered by accredited, trade trainer/assessors with current industry experience.

Course duration:
The program will be delivered over 104 weeks (holiday inclusive) with 20 contact hours per week which includes theory education in the classroom and practical training in the fully equipped workshop facility in accordance with a structured approach which meets the requirements of the qualification.
Besides the above-structured learning, students are advised to do appropriately 10 hours per week of unstructured learning.
Learners may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in their chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training ( RPL- Recognition of Prior Learning, or Credit Transfer). The granting of course credit may affect course fees as well as the duration of the course.

If students have previously completed a unit with the same unit code or unit title as in the student’s new course, students may be eligible for a Credit Transfer and students may not have to repeat that unit. Students will need to complete a credit transfer application form and provide a certified copy of the transcript of the statement of attainment. There is a fee for this process. Applications for credit transfer must be made prior to the commencement of the course.
Students may apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) if they can demonstrate that their work and life experiences match one or more of the units in which they have enrolled. They must be able to demonstrate that they have achieved the skills and knowledge equivalent to the learning outcomes of the unit/s. Evidence that demonstrates this achievement may be through a portfolio of evidence. Applications for RPL must be made prior to the commencement of the course – please speak with the Student Support Officer if you wish to apply. There is a fee for consideration of RPL applications.
